Personal links: what they are, forwarding, and groups
Each household has its own link: what it opens, how to find it, why it shouldn’t be posted in a WhatsApp group, and what isn’t possible (yet).

A household is one person or one family: one link, one reply for everyone. The personal link is what Tov sends to each household. It opens the invitation in the household’s name, with only the moments you’ve invited them to, and pre-fills their reply.
What a personal link contains
- A welcome in the household’s name, in its language if you’ve set one for it (otherwise, the celebration’s language).
- Only the moments this household is invited to. A “By invitation” moment they aren’t invited to is never sent to their browser.
- A pre-filled reply: the planned number of people, which the household can correct, and their previous reply if they’ve already given one.
- A reply attributed to that specific household, in your tracking.
The link is signed by Tov: it can’t be guessed and can’t be forged. It can also take a readable form, with the household’s name and an eight-character code; it leads to the same place, and older links keep working.
Where to find it
- In “Send”: the link is already in each household’s WhatsApp message.
- For a household WhatsApp can’t reach (no number, invalid number): “Copy their link”, under “Not reachable on WhatsApp”.
- In a household’s card, at the “Invite” step: “Copy their invitation”. The invitation must be published first.
- To see what a household sees without writing to them: “View as this household”. This preview is only for logged-in organizers and doesn’t create any new link.
One link per household, never in a group
Don’t send a personal link in a WhatsApp group with several households. Anyone who opens that link replies in the original household’s name. Send it to that household in a private chat.
A forwarded link works: the person who receives it replies under the original household’s name. This is a design choice, so that everyone can reply from their own phone. In your tracking, if the name entered doesn’t look like the household’s, a “name changed” marker invites you to check that it isn’t a forwarded link.
What about the general link?
The invitation’s address, without a personal link, is open to anyone who has it: it shows the “Everyone” moments, with no household name, and a reply form that each person fills in by typing their name. If all your moments are “By invitation,” this general link only shows a welcome page: “This invitation is personal — ask the family for your link.”
What doesn’t exist yet
A personal link doesn’t expire, and there’s no button to renew or cancel it. If you remove a household from your list, its link no longer opens its personal space: it shows the invitation like the general link.
