Every celebration has its room.
A chuppah and a reception, a brit milah meal planned in a week, a separate-seating hall: the plan fits your celebration, not the other way round.
Wedding
One plan for the chuppah, another for the reception. Both sides of the family in color, the head table in the middle.
Bar mitzvah
The friends together, a “Rabbanim” table, the grandparents near the entrance: one label, and Tov remembers it.
Bat mitzvah
The class at one table, the families around it, and every guest finds their seat on their phone.
Brit milah
The meal is often planned in a week: a few tables, seated in a few minutes, even from your phone.
Henna
Each side of the family has its color in the room: you see at a glance who is where, and you mix the tables whenever you like.
How it works
From the room
to the last guest seated.
Draw your room
Your tables, the dance floor, the bar, the buffet, the entrance: each in its real place. One room per moment, and the number of seats at each table.
The RSVPs come in
Every “yes” received on WhatsApp lands in “Still to seat”, with the exact number of adults and children. Nothing to copy out.
Drag, or let Tov seat them
Drag a family onto a table. Or “Seat the N left”: everyone in the best seat, family side and labels included, then a recap to check.
Separate seating, separate tables
A mechitzah? Men’s and women’s tables, with each person’s side suggested from a clear first name or a title, for you to confirm. Rabbanim, children, teens: one label per table.
An RSVP changes? Nothing moves in silence
“We can’t make it after all”, “there will be four of us”: the family is flagged “To review” on its table. You decide: free the seats, keep them or seat the extra guests.
Your spreadsheet? Paste it
The Table view: one row per guest, the table typed on the keyboard. Paste your columns from Excel, Tov finds everyone and shows you the unknown names. Export whenever you like.
Tovy, the Tov AI
Write it,
it’s seated.
You already know what you want: “the cousins from Toronto together”, “never Marc next to Rivka”. Say it just like that. Tovy does it right away in your plan, and every action keeps its “Undo”.
- Seat: “the Cohens with the Attals”, “the Levys at table 5”, “one more table of 10”.
- Remember: “never Marc and Rivka together”, “the Benhamous near the entrance”.
- Answer: “where is David?”, “how many children?”, “who has no seat?”.
- Two guests with the same name? Tovy asks “Which one?” instead of guessing.
Your guests stay yours. Tovy sees the names, the sides, the labels and the tables. Never a diet, an allergy, a message or a phone number. The conversation is not kept.
On the day
Nobody looks for
their table.
- The evening before or the morning
Everyone sees THEIR table
On their invitation link, at the time you choose: 8 pm the evening before or 8 am on the day. Never anyone else’s plan.
- In the morning
“Your table” by email
If you wish, each family gets its table by email in the morning. Never at night, never on Shabbat or a festival.
- At the door
The welcome desk knows where to go
Whoever is at the door ticks off arrivals and sees each family’s table. The room fills up live, table by table.
- In the kitchen
The caterer has their sheet
Per table: adults, children, kashrut requested and allergies. Plus three more sheets to print: by table, the room, by name.
Comparison
Spreadsheet + paper
vs. Tov
With a spreadsheet and paper
- Every RSVP copied out by hand, with the risk of missing one.
- Aunt Sarah can’t come any more: you redo the table in pencil.
- Marc and Rivka side by side, discovered on the day.
- The caterer calls three times about the diets per table.
- The plan printed the night before is already out of date.
With Tov
- Every RSVP lands in the room on its own, with the right number.
- An RSVP changes: the family is flagged “To review”, you decide.
- “Never Marc and Rivka together”: Tov remembers it at every placement.
- The caterer’s sheet builds itself, table by table.
- Four sheets always up to date, to print at the last minute.
Our tips
Six tips for a seating chart
without drama.
What is worth knowing before you seat the first guest.
Start with the tables that don’t move
The head table, the Rabbanim, the children: place them first. Everything else falls into place much faster around them.
Seat families, not individuals
A family stays together by default. When someone needs to sit elsewhere (teens with their friends), move them apart in one gesture.
Think of those who need quiet
Grandparents near the entrance, away from the dance floor and the speakers. A “near the entrance” rule is enough.
Write down the “never together” once
Family tensions are noted at the start, not the night before. Tov then respects them at every new placement.
Don’t wait for every RSVP
Start with the expected seats. When an RSVP changes, the family is flagged: you adjust instead of starting over.
Share the table on the morning itself
Showing guests their table on the day avoids last-minute change requests, and the welcome desk moves faster.
Seating chart questions
Your questions,
our answers.
How do I make a wedding seating chart?
Draw the room (tables, dance floor, entrance), let your guests’ RSVPs come in, then seat each family: by dragging it onto a table, with “Seat the N left”, or by writing to Tovy who sits with whom. Everything changes in one move, and “Undo” puts it all back as it was.
When should I make my seating chart?
You can start before the RSVPs, with the seats expected for each family. When an RSVP arrives or changes, Tov flags it on the right table: you adjust, you don’t start over.
How do I make a seating chart with separate men’s and women’s seating?
Choose “separate seating”: the room splits into men’s and women’s tables. Each person’s side is suggested from a clear first name or a written title, and you confirm. A first name used by both stays “to check”.
Does Tovy change my plan without asking?
Tovy only does what you write, right away, and every action keeps its “Undo”. If a name is ambiguous, Tovy asks “Which one?” instead of guessing.
What happens if a guest cancels or brings more people?
Nothing moves in silence: the family is flagged “To review” on its table. You choose to free its seats, keep them, or seat the extra people.
Can I use my Excel file?
Yes. In the Table view, paste your columns (name, table): Tov finds each guest and shows you the unknown names. You can also export the plan whenever you like.
Do my guests see the whole plan?
No. Each guest only sees their own table, on their personal link, at the time you choose. If you wish, they also get it by email on the morning of the celebration.
How much does it cost?
The seating chart is free during the beta, with 20 messages to Tovy per celebration. Dragging, “Seat the N left” and the other suggestions are unlimited.
