What is a pidyon haben?
The redemption of the firstborn son: on the 31st day after the birth, the father redeems him from a kohen with five silver coins, then everyone shares a festive meal (seudat mitzvah). It is never held on Shabbat or a festival: it then moves to the next day.
Does every family hold one?
No. The baby must be a boy and his mother’s first child; there is no pidyon when the father is a kohen or a levi, or when the mother is the daughter of a kohen or a levi. Caesarean birth, earlier miscarriage: ask your rabbi, the rules are precise.
Can we invite some households to the ceremony only?
Yes. You create your moments (pidyon haben, meal…) and choose, household by household, who is invited to what. Each household sees only its moments and says how many people are coming.
Do our guests need an account?
No. They open the link they got on WhatsApp and reply. That’s all.
How much does it cost?
Nothing during the beta: you create, send and follow your invitations without paying, and with no ads.
