Custom URL

Create a unique and memorable web address for each of your invitations with Tov.events custom URLs.

URL format

Each Tov.events invitation has a unique and elegant URL in the following format:

tov.events/@yourname/my-event

This URL is made up of two elements you can customize:

  • @yourname — your unique username, preceded by the @ symbol. This is your identity on Tov.events.
  • /my-event — the slug (identifier) of your event, generated from the title.

This format is inspired by social media and provides a URL that's short, professional and easy to remember. Your guests can type it directly into their browser if they've lost the original link.

Choose your username

Your username is the first part of your invitation URLs. It appears after the @ and represents your identity on the platform. It's the same for all your events.

Tips for choosing a good username:

  • Short and memorable — choose a name that's easy to remember and spell (e.g. @smith, @johnandjane).
  • Personal — use your last name, first name or a combination (e.g. @cohen-family).
  • No special characters — only letters, numbers and hyphens are allowed.

Your username is set when you create your account and can be changed later in your profile settings. Choose it carefully, as it will appear in all your invitation URLs.

Event identifier (slug)

The slug is the second part of the URL, after your username. It uniquely identifies each of your events. By default, it's automatically generated from your event title.

Slug examples:

  • "Sophie and David's Wedding" → /sophie-and-davids-wedding
  • "Dad's 50th Birthday" → /dads-50th-birthday
  • "Nathan's Bar Mitzvah" → /nathans-bar-mitzvah

The slug is automatically cleaned up: spaces become hyphens, accents are removed and special characters are stripped to create a URL that's clean and universally compatible with all browsers and messaging systems.

Share your URL

One of the great advantages of custom URLs is how easy they are to share. Your link is short and readable enough to be shared in many ways:

  • By message — send the link via WhatsApp, SMS, email or any other messaging service.
  • Verbally — the format "tov.events/@yourname/event" is simple enough to dictate over the phone.
  • On paper — print the URL on physical invitation cards, announcements or posters.
  • QR code — generate a QR code that guests can scan with their phone.
  • Social media — share the link on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

When the link is shared on social media or in messaging apps, a rich preview (Open Graph) automatically displays with your event's title and description, making sharing even more attractive.

Tip Test your URL in a private WhatsApp conversation (with yourself) to check that the link preview displays correctly before sending it to your guests.
